I have always been intrigued by puzzles.  This naturally led me to the custom side of our business.  I just love to listen to a customer’s dreams and then figure out just how to make them reality.  In toady’s day and age most stores are afraid to do custom work where one small mistake could cost a lot of money.  We have never been afraid to make our customers dreams come true.  We are very skilled in knowing how to do just about anything; after all we have been doing custom work for well over 100 years.  We maintain workshops both domestically and internationally and we know exactly which shop is best for each type of work.  Since there is virtually no limit to our customer’s imagination I couldn’t possibly list all of the things that we can do but I’ll list the most common ones.

Our artisans are expert in all types of embroidery from Bonaz (a beautiful loop stitch) to the exquisite Raised Swiss.

Design

We can create virtually any design that you can dream of.  It will be made in the color(s) of your choice on bed, bath, and table linens or on almost any fabric that you have. Our artists will actually sketch your design, first onto paper for your approval and then onto the finest linens of your selection in your choice of color threads. Next a skilled third or fourth generation embroiderer will hand guide and stitch the artwork. If you prefer we have a wide selection of designs on file which you can have in your custom color selection including such classics as three line, chain, scallop, and hemstitch.  As I mentioned we have done a coat of arms for a castle in France as well as a caricature of a famous actor.  We have even copied wallpaper and china patterns.

Monogram

Our selection of monogram styles is just unbelievable.  After choosing your style, or custom creating one, it will be sketched for your approval.  Select your color or colors and your monogram will be hand embroidered.

Measuring

I wanted to include some generic charts to help you get an idea of basic sizes.  Today there are so many variables that it is always best for you to measure to be sure.  All the numbers in the charts are in inches.

First is mattress size.  Always measure from one edge cording to the other. Measure three dimensions; side to side (width), head to foot (length) and then top to bottom (depth).  I have purposely left out the dimension for depth as there is no longer any standard size.  In the past most mattresses were 6” high but now we have customers with all different depths.  Usually the range is from 4” to as much as 24”.

Next is pillows.  As you can see by the length measurement two queen pillows will fit side by side on a queen bed and two king pillow will fit side by side on a king bed.  European pillows look good and they are great for leaning against while reading or watching TV in bed.  Boudoir and Neckroll pillows are basically for decoration or neck support.

The tablecloth chart is a basic guide as there is no standard size.  Each manufacturer finishes with a slightly different dimension.

One Last Important Note

Many of us care for our skin with acne medications, skin moisturizers and makeup which frequently contain caustics that may stain, discolor and even break down fibers.  If you use any of these items we recommend you use extra care in not allowing them to come in contact with your fine bed linens and towels.

I hope that this will help you take some of the drudgery out of doing the laundry but more importantly to enjoy your fine linens for many years to come.
