A Truly Great Gift | Other Ideas | But What About Baby?

When they approached me to be the Gift Personal Shopper I was thrilled  after all as they say, “I Live to Shop”.  Then I realized that this is  no easy task.  To me a great gift MUST encompass two things.  First the  recipient must recognize the value of the gift.  It must be easily  apparent that the item is constructed well, is of very fine quality and  that it is unique.  Second the gift item must be something that has  special meaning to the recipient; something that will accrue  sentimental value or something that will be used on a regular basis. 

A Truly Great Gift

The best example of a gift that meets and exceeds all these criteria is a picture frame.   I just love our Mother of Pearl Picture Frames.  They are made beautifully.  You can see the quality in the hand picked Mother of Pearl inserts and in the lacquer finish.  The frames have some weight to them too.  Put a great picture in the frame, let us gift warp it and you’ve got a GREAT gift that will be truly used and treasured by the recipient for many years to come.  I just love picture frames, many times I will take a picture of a special event or just a good time and put the picture in the frame and give that as a remembrance.  We have a number of picture frames to choose from.

Other Ideas:

We are all about comfort and value.  In this day and age of high stress we sell products that comfort; so really any of our items has potential as a truly great gift.  To make it easier here’s my top ten list:

1. Italian Cashmere Throw Blanket
We import this throw ourselves so it’s a great value!  It’s made of the finest Italian Cashmere and actually loomed on a farm by a very nice family who we have been doing business with for three generations.  I just love mine, it’s warm and cuddly.

2. French Woven Tote
A wise woman once said “You can never have enough bags”. This tote is good for makeup, jewelry,  medication, just about anything.  They are beautiful French Woven Tapestry.

3. Bed or Serving Trays
These trays  are great for serving, writing on or resting your computer on to surf the web in bed.

4. Handkerchiefs
We carry beautiful Irish linen or 100% cotton handkerchiefs, hand rolled, appliqué, embroidered or just plain for men or women.  Theses are very unique because they are very hard to find.  We import them from various areas of the world.

5. Jewelry Box
We have some beautiful Jewelry Boxes, my favorite is the etched mirror.

6. Robes
RobeBath robes are an item that you can find anywhere.  We look for a robe that is both stylish as well as functional.  Functionality is primarily based on the cotton that is used.  So what makes for a good towel makes for a good robe.  If the robe is for lounging we recommend a lighter weight robe.  On the other hand, if the robe is to be a replacement for a bath towel, we recommend a heavier robe so that water does not soak it through.  In the heavier robes I just love the Turkish Terry.  If you want something more stylish, how about the Yves Delome Olympe?  In the lighter robes we have a great combination terry on the inside, pique on the outside, it’s stylish and comfortable!

7. Glassware
We are proud to carry Edinburgh Crystal.  Edinburgh Crystal was founded in 1867 and remains at the cutting edge of contemporary crystal design.  They match traditional glassware designs with contemporary styling.  It would be hard to find someone who couldn’t use and appreciate fine crystal.  It just gives you a great feeling every time you use it.

8. Lamp Berger
Lamp Berger.  This is another unique item, made with astonishing quality, by a company that is over a hundred years old.  Lampe Berger are collected and used around the world.  But, you ask, what is a Lampe Berger?  It is an elegantly designed lamp that burns enchanting perfumes.  These lamps do not burn with an open flame but the flame is blown out and they “simmer” for hours or until snuffed out.  Choices of lamps and fragrances are more than you can imagine.  Most are available as a full starter set in a gift box.

9. Guest Towels
Guest Towels are another example of a unique gift idea.   We have a huge selection from our controversial girls (great for Boy’s Poker night) to the classic plain with a scallop edge.  Don’t forget that we have Guest Towels in Paper as well.

10. Friends
I love the “friends” that we carry.  At first I said they’re so cute but we’ll never sell them.  Little did I know that they are irresistible.  We have customers that come back again and again for new ones.  It’s just a soft, cuddly, fun gift.

But What About Baby?

Everybody loves babies!  You can smile at them; they smile at you, sooo cute.  Here are my ideas for great baby gifts for that new adorable baby you’re visiting.

Birth Certificate Pillow
I think that this is the ultimate baby gift that will truly be treasured for a lifetime.  It lists name, date and time of birth, all the important information even the gift giver’s name.

Baby Blanket
These baby blankets are very unique.  They are knitted and crocheted by hand and made of 100% cotton.  The included “pet” is tethered to the blanket with a braided cord so it will not get lost.

Baby Robes
These robes are hooded and can be personalized with the child’s name on it.

Of course I love to receive gifts but there is no greater feeling than to see someone who truly treasures and enjoys a gift you gave them.
